PUMA
Established in 1948 by Rudolf Dassler, PUMA is a global sports brand headquartered in Herzogenaurach, Germany. It manufactures and sells a wide range of products, from sports equipment to shoes, sportswear, and fashion items.
The Origin of Terrace Style
A fashion style that originated in Manchester and Liverpool, England, in the late 1970s.
The style emerged from passionate football fans gathered in the terraces behind the goals at football stadiums, incorporating sportswear into their fashion. This style eventually became known as “Terrace Style.”
The upper uses short-pile, finely-textured suede. The body of the suede creates an elegant atmosphere, while the striking leather foam strips evoke a sense of movement.
The Legendary Model Known to a Few
The “PALERMO,” developed as an indoor training shoe, was released for a brief period from 1981 to 1982. Despite its short release, the model quickly became iconic, corresponding with the rise of terrace style.
At that time, PUMA released shoes named after famous European cities, and this model was named after Palermo, a city on the island of Sicily in Italy.
The quarter features a signature tag with foil print, a detail originally designed when the nylon-based original model was created.
Functional Features from Training Shoes
The T-shaped cap toe is a design unique to training shoes. Not only does it protect the toes, but the cap extends around the arch to help prevent wobbling.
The PUMA cat in the heel window serves as a stylish accent.
The outsole features a design originally developed for the handball shoes “VLADO STENZEL.” The suction-cup-like tread pattern provides exceptional grip on both courts and fields.
Terrace Icon
This legendary model, which captivated the youth of the time and bloomed as a prominent symbol of terrace style, is now available for you to try.
